Welcome to ORIGAMI with Rachel Katz !

WELCOME
An Internet search for origami listed 185,000 entries! But, if you are just a beginner, there isn't very much suitable material available. Most sites are filled with marvelous creations of intricate designs and galleries of models with no instructions. These are not usually places to start learning origami.

In 1984 when I was approached to write an origami book, I realized that there was a real need for easy to understand directions for quick simple models that guarantee success.

This led to the publication of "Fun Folds" (now out of print). In it, are 50 projects, all of which are super simple to any experienced folder, but provide a needed foundation in the learning of this magnificent art form.

Once you've mastered the basics in the section on this site called, "Fun Folds," you can find lots of material on a more advanced level. Origami USA, www.origami-usa.org , located in The American Museum of Natural History in New York City, is the national organization for paper folders in the U.S. It also has many foreign members. Their site is a good one if you want to keep up with origami events or to purchase supplies.

My favorite site: www.oriland.com is a wonderland of origami. This magical site will keep you entranced for weeks. Here you will find directions for 70 original origami models, all created by Katrin and Yuri Shumakov. There are games and contests and origami to challenge even advanced folders.
